The Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts will kick off their second preseason game of 2023 on Saturday night, with the Colts as -4.5 NFL odds favorites.
Last week, the Bears played incredible offense in the first quarter and held on to beat the Tennessee Titans. Meanwhile, the Colts starters struggled and gave up an early lead they were unable to recover from against the Buffalo Bills.
I analyze the point spread and total and give my best NFL picks and predictions for the Bears vs. Colts below.

It was an unbelievable start to the 2023 preseason for Bears fans hoping to see Justin Fields and the offense improvements. Fields went a perfect 3/3 passi…
Don’t you love it when things just come together perfectly?
That’s the theme of my Week 9 trend report as we have multiple matchups where the opponents have achieved the same specific betting outcome in most of their games this season. As a result, we have some direction with how to bet on a handful of games this week.
Like I always say though, you need more than NFL betting trends for a reason to place a bet, so be sure to dig into some stats and try to determine if the market is reacting to the trends before making any NFL picks.
Checking in on some league-wide betting results, Unders continue to be a strong bet as they’ve hit in 59.5% of games. Perhaps because of that, we’re starting to see some lower totals as sev…
With only two games this weekend, I’m hitting different levels of NFL odds, giving out my best close-to-EV touchdown, my best mid-range bet, and the longshot I like the most to score among the Conference Championship odds on Sunday.
I can’t say no to a Chiefs stack in the backfield, taking some great value with the better runner in the Baltimore backfield, and taking one of the longest shots at +1,900 to score.
Here are my three best free NFL picks for Conference Championship touchdown scorers, as the Super Bowl odds march closer to their completion.

We’ve entered October, which means the playing field between bookies and bettors is beginning to tilt in favor of the “bad guys.”
The more games we get, the sharper the NFL odds get, and Week 5 lines should be handled with care. That puts even greater importance on getting the best number.
That means betting on the opening spreads and totals immediately or waiting for the market to move and buying back the adjustment later in the week.
With the NFL Week 5 odds fresh out of the oddsmakers’ oven, I highlight lines to bet now and the ones to bet later.

Paul George sent shockwaves throughout the NBA when it was reported in the wee hours of Monday morning that the nine-time All-Star had agreed to a four-year, $212 million maximum contract with the Philadelphia 76ers.Free agency wasn’t even 10 hours old when the news broke.Plenty of moves have followed, with some teams focusing on locking down existing talent for years to come while others have put an emphasis on bringing fresh faces into the fold.Philadelphia has played both sides, evident by its decision to reportedly offer Tyrese Maxey a five-year, $204 million maximum extension on top of signing George. The 76ers also plan to bring back Kelly Oubre Jr. on a two-year, $16.3 million deal.Meanwhile, a fellow Eastern Conference contender hasn’t felt the need to look elsewhere for help,…
MERSEY MAYHEM
As if seeing their team diddled out of victory over Everton on the back of an offside call so tight it resembled The Fiver clambering out of a pub toilet window to avoid getting in a round, Liverpool fans were forced to endure further horror when it emerged Virgil van Dijk will be out for many months after it was confirmed he had “done” his ACL and will need surgery followed by rehab.
In the interests of accuracy it should be pointed out that it was in fact Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford wot “done” big Virgil’s knee, knacking the joint in question with a reckless challenge that went completely unpunished because the video assistant referee, David Coote, was so focused …

There is a touch of the unknown about Liverpool this season, unusually, with Jürgen Klopp starting a first full campaign at Anfield without Sadio Mané and looking to a pool of young talent led by Darwin Núñez to compensate for the undeniable loss of the Senegal international. Not in doubt, however, is Liverpool’s position as the best-equipped team to deny Manchester City a hat-trick of Premier League titles.
“There is more to come from him for sure,” said Ange Postecoglou when asked about Timo Werner before Tottenham visited Villa Park on Sunday. He was right. Werner scored his first league goal for Spurs in their 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace last weekend, hitting the all-important equaliser as Spurs came from behind to win, and he added another in the 4-0 win against Villa on Sunday.
Werner came off the bench against Villa and fired past Emiliano Martínez as Spurs took a huge stride towards finishing in the top four. Factor in his assists in matches against Manchester United and Brentford in January, and the German has been directly involved in four goals in seven outings for Spurs. For a player who struggled for consistency during his …
The Chicago Bears almost defeated the Houston Texans in the Hall of Fame Game, which was canceled early due to weather conditions. With 3:31 remaining in the third quarter, lightning strikes near Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium caused the game to be delayed and eventually canceled. This is far from the end of the world.Hardly any notable NFL stars, or even starting-caliber players, appeared in this game. By the end of the third quarter, we were watching players hoping to secure roles as backups, catch onto other teams or find their way onto a practice squad. The game itself was on pace to be a high-scoring affair, especially for the Hall of Fame Game. We'll see if that trend continues throughout the rest of the preseason, which continues in less than one week. While the Bears technic…
In the last calendar year alone, Jürgen Klinsmann called in over 60 different players for roster spots, as he tinkered with his final 23 for the USMNT. Granted, we knew players like Clint Dempsey, Tim Howard, and Michael Bradley had unquestioned spots, but then again, so did Landon Donovan. Plenty of unknown youngsters — in the mold of John Anthony Brooks or Julian Green or DeAndre Yedlin — are affiliated with top clubs and academies in Europe and the Americas. Over the next four year cycle, they will have numerous opportunities to impress Jürgen: a U-20 World Cup, a Summer Olympics (U-23 except for three players), two Gold Cups, a potential Confederations Cup, and the 2016 Copa América Centenario. Besides Gedion Zelalem, an obvious choice, here are 10 kids who are cap-less but po…
