Republic of Ireland 19/5 to draw against Germany in tonight’s Euro 2016 qualifier

Competition: Euro 2016 Qualifier
Market: Republic of Ireland to win against Germany
Odds:

Republic of Ireland host Germany tonight in the Euro 2016 qualifiers, and Martin O’Neill’s side are desperate to get a result to all but ensure of their place in the playoffs. It won’t be easy to get a result against the world champions, but Ireland have been in fine form ahead of the meeting to at least come away with a share of the spoils.

Third in Group D ahead of this week’s outing, four points ahead of fourth-placed Scotland, Ireland are in pole position to make the playoffs. They could still make the top-two automatic qualifying places with a win, but Germany are no slouches. The Eagles are top of the pack after eight games, and are coming off the back of five consecutive wins in the qualifiers.

Germany still need a win in one of their last two games to book their place in the finals next year, so they won’t take any chances against Ireland. However, despite their winning run, the world champions have looked vulnerable at times, with Scotland unfortunate to lose 3-2 in their last group clash. The Republic of Ireland drew with Germany in their previous head-to-head too, so this evening’s meeting promises to be competitive.

Boasting the best defence in the group, the Republic of Ireland have been very hard to break down under O’Neill this campaign. They would accept any positive result against Germany, and recent form suggests they could play out a stalemate against Joachim Lowe’s side. Ireland cancelled out Germany back in October 2014, and have drawn two of their last three home games in Group D. As a result, tonight’s clash could go the same way.
